You know you have made the right call moving back to a place when you can just pick up friendships right where you left off, like you haven’t been gone at all. Earlier this week Ethan and I met up to head to Hyalite Reservoir. We haven’t hung out since October, but it seemed like we had just seen each other at work the day before. That’s the really great thing about fishing buddies.
The lake treated us well. Better than any of the other anglers out there that night. None of the fish were very large, but a grab and a pull on the line always livens the spirit. It was a perfect night for it, and PBR always tastes best when enjoyed outside on the water.
Those low key evenings when you can go somewhere after work and not be in a huge rush or put too much pressure on yourself are one of the things I love about fishing. They’re just a good time to kick back, relax from the day, enjoy the scenery and some good company. Catching fish is just the icing on the cake.
Ethan is headed to Alaska in a couple of weeks for his first guide season. Hopefully a summer full of big salmon won’t spoil the fun of 12” cutthroat…
