Spring is quickly approaching here in SW Montana. Granted we had snow earlier this week but it was 60 and sunny by 5 o’clock that same day! I decided it was long past due that I went through my wader bag and get it ready for the long days on the river we have in front of us.
I learned that I really need to think about cleaning it out a little more regularly! Here are a couple things I found:
PBR Can (no clue when that wandered in…)
Fishing license that expired last year
Broken Hemos
Granola Bar wrapper
Pack of Handwarmers
A stillwater fly box (even though the lakes have been frozen for 6 months)
Wet Wading socks. (Again, I’ve worn waders for the last 6 months….)
Two Beanies
2 pairs of gloves (damn little pockets in the bag allowed me to forget about those till January)
And I think a split shot container opened up since a unknown amount of those are rolling around
My fly boxes are empty too! That’s never a good thing.
The take away you ask? I have to much stuff and need to organize it a lot better! This isn’t even counting all the empty leader packs, fly line, random flies, tippet, etc. that are in my hip pack.
I think the days of frozen finger, icy guides and wool gloves are finally over. But I know one thin, if this winter was a pre-cursor to what the summer is going to bring, it’s going to be epic!
