It is hard to believe that it is already most of the way through the first week of December. This has been a strange and fast year. Everywhere I look people are hanging Christmas lights, putting up their Christmas trees, and the sound of Christmas music is filling the air. Let me tell you, I am damn glad we don’t play Christmas music for six weeks straight at the fly shop.
One of the things that Christmas brings that always makes me smile every year is Eggnog. Yes, it has been available for weeks at this point, but I really can’t enjoy it too much until December rolls around. It’s sugary, thick goodness is one of those things without which the Christmas season just wouldn’t be the same.
Lots of folks will mix rum, whiskey or other intoxicants into their eggnog, and that’s always a fine idea. A good boozy eggnog can turn any office party a little raucous… Personally though, I prefer mine straight up. Dust it with a little nutmeg and you’re good to go.
The Christmas season has many good drinks, but eggnog is king.
