Gig Harbor Fly Shop just got in their new line of stuff: Trout Weirdo. The shop has a history of doing some interesting shirts, hoodies, and things with witty sayings. My personal favorite so far is their popular “Support Spey Rights” gear.
But they’re going all out with this new one. Trout Weirdo. When I first saw it as I was unpacking the box of hoodies the shop just got, I wasn’t too sure if I thought it was pretty damn funny or kind of offensive… Being a trout bum myself, the word “weirdo” kinda struck me as off at first.
But, the more I thought about it, it is kinda funny. There are a lot worse things fly fishermen have been called than weirdos. And if there are people out there who think that those who chase trout are weird, then might as well wear the badge with pride!
So in the end I can’t be too offended by it. Hell, I’m even going to get one myself. If you feel so inclined yourself, get yours here. You can also get a sweet Hydro Flask Growler with the Trout Weirdo logo on it too.
