Starting a new job is always interesting. You don’t know your coworkers, you don’t know the routine, and you don’t quite have the “feel” of the place for a while. But when, on your second day of work, the shop hosts an event called “Crocktoberfest”, you know you’re probably in a good place.
What the hell is Crocktoberfest, you ask? It is Gig Harbor Fly Shop’s Annual (first annual this year) Crock Pot cook off, with fly tying, beer drinking and hanging out on the side. Call if a customer appreciate day if you will. For someone just starting out in the shop, it was a great opportunity to meet some regulars. Thanks to Chi Wulff reader Eric, who came up and shook my hand and said he’s been enjoying the blog for a while.
Listening to the fish stories and conversation filling the store, I realized that I have a lot to learn about this fishery. But that’s ok, a new challenge is a good thing. I can’t wait to get out on the water. Filming starts today up there, so keep an eye out for some new videos coming out soon!
