Jake and I have been dinking around with ‘Billie Girl’, a beloved soft topped, red 1983 CJ7 for six years now.

From a post Jake wrote last year:

We named the Jeep Billie Girl, after Oracle Jones’ horse in the movie “The Hallelujah Trail”.  At one point in the film, Oracle says, “Come on now, Billie Girl, take me slow and take me true”.  No better words can describe the Jeep than that.  We even planned to get that quote inscribed on a plaque to mount on the dash.

She has 129,300 miles and was used as a town driver as recently as two and half years ago, though she’s been languishing in storage since due to my frickin rotator cuff problems (no power steering) and the multiple other
demands for time, effort and money that real life generates.

She has the original four speed tranny and stock transfer case, there’s been some engine work done, most notably a conversion to fuel injection (prior owner, which alleviated the most common complaint about these early models), new clutch, starter and alternator. We’ve even recored the radiator.

The body is in great shape, though the 2o year old front end needs attention before she ventures far.

The time has come to pass her on to a loving home where she can undergo the careful rebuild that she deserves. She’s really a prime candidate for a frame-off rebuild…

$3200 or best offer and she’s yours; your winter project is sitting in storage in Bozeman calling your name.
