Other than a couple of carp trips, I haven’t touched a fly rod in over a month. That’s crazy. I had always heard stories about people getting so wrapped up with their shitty day jobs and piddly little tasks that they run out of time to chase their passion. That won’t happen to me, I thought.
Heh.
True, water conditions have been downright bad for most of the area this year. And crowds of people have been crawling all over the decent water. But I haven’t even made it down to the Park this year. All those lakes I had mapped out trips to remain unfished. My 2-wt has only been out of it’s tube a few times, instead of getting used every week to fish a new stretch of small water.
What the hell happened? Now it’s September and the year is slipping away. Before we know it, there will be snow on the ground and Christmas carols in the air. Time should go faster the older you get, but I’m only 24. I don’t even want to think about what 20 years from now is going to be like.
So here’s what I’m going to do. I have an early day at work tomorrow, and the fishing gear is going to be in the car waiting for me when I get out. I’m going to forget about work, bad water, crowds, and life in general and go fishing. Life is short and you never know when you won’t have the opportunity to fish waters like this on a whim anymore.
The point of this post is simple. Go fishing. Don’t do what I did and get all wrapped up in things that really aren’t that important while precious time slips away. Get out there, before it’s too late.
See you on the water.
