Unless something has changed in the past few hours, the Montana Supreme Court is soon to be seated in the Strand Union Building, Ballroom A on the MSU campus in Bozeman to hear the PLWA appeal of the district court ruling on Seyler Lane Bridge access.

You’ve heard about this case – billionaire media heir James Cox Kennedy (Atlanta) has deemed a Ruby River bridge crossing, and presumptive river access point, his private property and taken some rather impressive measures to fence out / shock fly fishers river enthusiasts trespassers over the past several years.

It’s come down to what we sure as hell hope is a very well attended hearing today.

The PLWA has recently published via newsletter this MSU Exponent editorial by Brent Zundel; he provides a clearly biased but fairly well stated overview of the history involved.

Here’s another interesting local twist – the Property and Environment Research Center, based right here in Bozeman, has filed a brief in the case in favor of James Cox Kennedy.

Miles Nolte, author of the Alaska Chronicles and guide at the Bozeman Angler, sat down with Laura Higgins of PERC for an interview recently (it’s not dated). Read the interview – Coffee and Conservation with Laura Higgins on Stream Access here.

Should be an interesting day.
