I took full advantage of a day off yesterday and floated Pelican Point to Cascade with the Headhunters crew. Owners Mark, John and Julie, guide Beth Hood, Simms gang Whitey and Nick and myself headed out into a breezy spring day for some river time.
After a morning of fishing, we tucked into the lee side of an island for lunches and enjoyed sandwiches, chips and, of course, a few beers. “Blime” – Bud Light Lime – seemed to be a popular choice.
On the river it’s less about the quality of the alcohol, and more about just enjoying it.
We had good success nymphing, and while dries were slow (cough, cough… wind) there were several reports of streamer takes in the afternoon.
In the evening, the crew rendezvoused back at the shop with the guides and the rest of the shop staff. Then the entire team headed over to Izaak’s for dinner and drinks. There were some wide eyes when we all tromped in, but Izaak’s took care of us and, in true Craig fashion, many more adult libations were consumed.
