Smith River Permits Announced. (And Anybody Need an Earlier Float?)

by Mark McGlothlin on February 25, 2013

in Damn!

Smith River permit draw winners were posted today – you can check the list here.

We were fortunate enough to draw a pre-runoff slot for the float week of 30 April. The main risk of an early float is skinny water, though our resident futurist projects this April will be a warmish one. (The NWS’s Climate Prediction center is calling for a ‘normal’ April in terms of temperature and precipitation in central Montana at this point for what it’s worth. Not much actually.)

One of our group has an almost-set-in-stone conflict for that weekend, though I think being at your sister-in-law’s wedding isn’t that big of a deal. (And don’t have your wife call me again either.)

Anybody draw for one of the first few weeks of May that wanted to go earlier???

Next day update: The trade offer is withdrawn, the wedding’s off (just kidding). And we really did have a little luck this year…
