This afternoon I was on assignment at the Jackson Fork Ranch near Bondurant, Wyoming, photographing their national-level Percheron breeding program. It was a good day; the smell of a barn and the presence of massive horses brings back memories of running a similar facility.
After the barn, I was given a tour of the lodge, a stellar affair, complete with a fly tying room and this trout mantlepiece. The ranch is tucked back from the road, nestled against the Wyoming Mountain range and the Gros Ventre River. We’ve had a relative melt day here today, with temperatures in the twenties and a very strong wind. As I was leaving the little vale, snow showers crossed the far hills and I couldn’t resist pulling off and hiking a bit for an image.
Lesson of the day: trout keep popping up in my life, even in the middle of winter at a barn.
