Driving Time

One of my favorite things about fishing is that it opens up so much country to explore.  Here in Southwest Montana, if you look at a map you will see nothing but rivers, lakes, and streams stretching across the page.  Despite what some jackass from Texas said during a conversation I had with him last week at that store, yes there is a lot of water out here.  (And Hell No we don’t need to dam it all up.  More on that later).

With so much water to hit, a fisherman spends a lot of time driving to or from the river.  It’s a great feeling, loading everything up in the car early and heading out to spend the day on the water.  Mark and I have perfected the fishing drive down to an art almost.  When we lived in the same town, we’d often just throw the gear in the truck and aimlessly drive around for hours and hours.

I realized yesterday that I haven’t had a full weekend since about Thanksgiving, and have had no day off at all for the past two weeks.  When I get really run down with work, life, whatever, I need some driving time to recharge.  The first chance I get, I’m going to grab the waders and rod and hit the road.  Hell, I just may have a “sick day” later this week.

Cough cough.
