Thirsty Thursday: Fishing Beers and Farewells

Thanksgiving is coming up, and that usually marks the time when Mark and I put the fly rods away for a few months.  You need a break, and with the holidays coming up life gets pretty hectic for a while.

As the fishing season ends, take a couple moments and reflect on this year.  Has been a good one?  Did you accomplish all the fishy goals you set for yourself?  Maybe you mastered a new technique, or learned to spey cast, or landed a fish over 24”.

In these moments of reflection, pop the top on your best fishing beer of the season.  This is the beer that you chose time and again to enjoy on your various outings.  For some folks, it takes the first couple months of the season to narrow it down to one choice.

For me, the choice is easy.  PBR.  Pretty much since the week I got back here to Bozeman, PBR has been the go to choice for myself and my fishing buddies.  It has been there for good trips, bad trips, long days and good times.  With all the pictures we’ve gotten of it this year, we should be sponsored by them.

So as you bid the season farewell, raise a toast with your fishing beer.  And keep it handy… Fishing beers often turn into fly tying beers in long winters.
