Things are kind of stabilizing for me here in Bozeman. After almost a month of running around at work with my new job like a chicken with its head cut off, my schedule is finally falling back into a routine. It’s great. Part of that routine is getting out and about as much as possible.
Shane and I had been planning a cast and blast float again for a while, but a major snow storm and cold snap put an end to that. Cabin fever hasn’t set in enough for five hours in a drift boat in single digit temps to be fun. With our luck, that day we passed on fishing was probably the best of the entire year.
With fishing out of the picture, what are two outdoorsy guys to do in November in Montana? Layer up and go hunting.
The fresh snow always make things look beautiful. Having not heard it in a while, it brought a smile to my face to hear the squeaky crunch of walking through the cold snow. That day we saw a fair amount of deer, including perhaps the biggest whitetail buck I’ve ever seen run by us at about 40 yards.
We didn’t shoot anything that day. But good times were had, epic beardsicles were grown, and it felt damn good to be out of the house.
