Thirsty Thursday: Water Edition

Water is a liquid most sacred to fishermen, for obvious reasons.  Without water, what the hell would we do with our time? Our entire sport would never have existed. And when you have been out on the water or in the woods all day, nothing quite quenches your thirst like a cold drink of water.

In drink columns, articles and blogs, water is overlooked.  Why would anyone waste their time writing about water?  Why should I?  Maybe it’s because we live in one of the few places in the country where water straight from the tap still tastes damn good.  Or maybe it’s because I’ve been thinking about our lack of rain for the past few months.

Having spent some time up in the mountains this fall, water is in short supply this year.  Leaves are going straight from green to brown, grass and bushes are as dry and brittle as they have ever been, and there is very little edible food for the residents of the area.  Rivers have also been hit badly this year, with flows running incredibly low across most of the state.

Here’s a few pictures from yesterday showing how low Hyalite reservoir is, and how dry it all looks.

If you know a rain dance, get dancing.
