Friend Winston was up from Austin last week. As previously mentioned, it was his first time in Montana, even just for sight seeing.
Needless to say, I had been talking it up for months. He had seen all the pictures, heard all the stories, and I was sure it was going to be as good for him. At least, that’s what I told him.
As you might imagine, the reality hardly lived up to the tales. We caught a few fish, but it was no where near the stuff I had been telling him about. So, hopes still high, Shane and I took him to what we now call “Lake 452”.
We’ve been here before, and it is where the big boys hang out. The smallest fish I’ve ever even seen out of this lake is about 16”. Average size is probably 18-20”. I was hoping and praying that this one honey hole would pan out.
And boy did it.
Not only did Winston outfish both of us, but he caught the biggest trout he had ever seen. Nice fishing buddy. Good to have you here.
