Happy Independence Day! Today we celebrate the birth of our nation. For many of you, I hope the celebration includes vast amounts of beer, fireworks, and time on the water. Mark and I used to always try to fish the Firehole in the park on the 4th, but sadly this year I got stuck having to work.
A friend of mine recently returned home from an overseas trip, and has been going on and on about how much better and more “pure” the communist country they were in was. It got me thinking. Sure, America has some issues. It always has and always will. Not everyone in the country is going to be perfect.
But there is still no where else in the world I would rather call home.
Whether you agree with the direction our country is headed in or not, take some time today to think about how good we have it here. It doesn’t matter what race, creed, religion or political ideology you belong to, celebrate just being an American today. And for our readers overseas, well, go fishing anyway. That’s always always something to celebrate.
A word of advice though… Whatever your plans are today or this weekend, if you are bald and have a tendency to wear trucker hats, put some sunscreen on your head. Or else you’ll end up looking like this:
