Thirsty Thursday: Copper Door Coffee Roasters

in Thirsty Thursday

Good coffee is worth a million bucks.  Especially on those mornings when you are a little slow getting going.  And when you run out of coffee, like I did a few weeks ago, it’s not good.  Not good at all.

After the aforementioned post, Sinjin Eberle of Copper Door Coffee Roasters (also Colorado TU’s president) was kind enough to send me a couple pounds of his coffee.  What makes Copper Door coffee good?  Several things.

First off, it’s roasted in small batches.  According to their website, no more than 8 pounds of beans get roasted at once.  Also, it is only roasted after your order has been placed, meaning that is won’t sit around and get stale.  When I first opened the shipping box, my entire car was filled with the smell of coffee.  It’s seriously fresh stuff.

Copper Door offers a dozen different roasts and blends.  So far, I have only tried the Ethiopia and Guatemala roasts.  Of the two, I personally preferred the Ethiopia.  It seemed to me to have a little bit milder flavor, and since I drink pretty much all my coffee black it was a smooth drinker.  That being said, the stronger Guatemala does have a little bit more get up and go in the mornings.  Such as now; I am halfway through my first cup and feeling pretty good..

Yes, the coffee is pretty kick ass.  But that is not the only reason to support and enjoy a small company like this.  Opening a small business is a pretty gutsy and risky move in the best of times, even more so in this economy.  Trust me, I would know, I’m in the process of getting one going myself (more on that to come!).  I don’t know about you guys, but given a choice, I’ll always root for the underdog.  Support the little guy.  It’s the same principle as supporting your local fly shop, instead of buying your stuff from some faceless corporate giant.  Small business has always played a large part in our country’s economy.  It is the American Dream.

Sinjin was also kind enough to offer Chi Wulff readers a discount on his coffee.  Enter the code CHITHIRSTY into the discount code box on checkout for a 20% discount.

You won’t be disappointed!

By the way, Sinjin’s offer is good through next Thursday!
