Wading Anglers Rejoice (and Yellow Sally-eating Trout, Take Cover)

Mark (SOL) over at Headhunters wins my Fly Fishing Ethics Post of the Year award (I know, its only June, but I feel confident about this) with this gem:

Again, have seen some bullshit boat move recently. Dude, give that bankie some room. I think some boat fellows are not very polite. Remember that those guys walked into that spot. Remember that all boat anglers were once bank anglers. Give them some room and respect man.

As someone who wade fishes 97% of the time and probably always will (hey, I like it that way), I say: thank you, Mark.

Also, important to point out (As Mark did in a previous post) that this is a two-way street, bank anglers who walk in to find a boat already anchored in their favorite spot really don’t have any right to a tantrum, It’s not like rowing a drift boat gives you insight into the future.

I should note that this particular post also taught me some interesting stuff about the always mysterious Yellow Sally. We get the Sally’s over here on the Henry’s Fork and I’ll admit that I’ve never known if the fish even eat them. There can be Sally’s all over the place and yet the river surface is as still as a graveyard. So thanks for the tip, Mark. And way to excel at blogging today, go catch a fish or ten.
