Thirsty Thursday: Hot Damn Hot Toddy

in Thirsty Thursday

I just heard on the radio that Bozeman is slated to get snow for the next couple days, with a winter storm warning over the weekend.  Hardly good Memorial Day weather by any means.  That’s spring in the mountains for you.

Colder weather makes me want to drink hot things, like tea, coffee and hot chocolate.  If you combine alcohol with any of these things, naturally they will improve.  As will sour spirits about snow in town on the last weeks of May.

Sure, you could do Bailey’s Irish Cream in your coffee (that’s a good one) or Peppermint  Schnapps in hot chocolate.  But if you really want to impress someone, make a hot toddy.  I suppose if you impress someone enough, you won’t need a drink to keep you warm on these chilly nights.

Here’s how:

Tea – preferably something lemon flavored
Whisky – The best I’ve had with this is Wild Turkey American Honey
1 fresh lemon half
Honey to taste

Brew your tea and fill your mug about 3/4 full.  Top the rest off with whisky.  Squeeze the fresh lemon into the tea, and sweeten with honey.

Not too fancy, but damn good.
