Tomorrow Mark and I are hitting the road and headed to Oklahoma. I have one week left before a new day job starts and we have other business to attend to. We thought hard about a quick dash up to Montana, but in the end decided it would be better for business to stick to Oklahoma.
Damn it.
Neither of us have ever fished in Oklahoma before, but have heard rumors about a couple of trout streams and bass ponds in the area. If any of you guys have any suggestions we would love to hear them. As often happens on our business trips, Mark and I bust ass for a couple days, then find time to fish. There is always time to fish.
The chance to fish new water in new places is one that should always be seized. Even if its in place you never would have thought to go, such as Oklahoma in our case. Its a big world out there with an unbelievable amount of fishable water. Might as well fish as much of it as you can while the water and yourself are up to the task.
I spent a good deal of my time growing up moving from city to city, getting exposed to a vast variety of culture, locations and people. That has greatly helped shape the person I am today. As fishermen, the same technique is important. Fishing new areas, chasing new species, learning new tactics can help you be a better angler on your own home waters.
Even if your only goal in fishing somewhere else is to prove that your home waters are the best, get out and do it.
