Three quick thoughts on today’s anniversary.
One, Jake and I were just leaving a meeting this morning here in town and were amazed at how most fly fishing blogs today haven’t mentioned anything about 11 September; between us we screen / read about 60 different fly fishing blogs every day. Only one of the sites we looked at this morning made mention the events of 8 years ago; surely we missed some.
We rationed that fly fishing blogs are a reflection of the mutual quest of many fly fishers to spend a bit of time in a place far away from the sometimes ugly realities of the world today. Fair enough.
I’m still a bit surprised though, and part of me hopes that the sober reality of that day, the thousands who perished and the bravery of many is never forgotten, or morphed into something that it shouldn’t be.
Two, remember what you were doing 8 years ago today? Interestingly some days it seems I can’t remember what I did last week, but I do remember that morning quite well.
