This weeks Thirsty Thursday offering comes via Kimberly in Driggs (that’s in southeastern Idaho for those unfamiliar) –

…Here’s one for your Thirsty Thursday, The Hanky Panky.

For those with an eye for history, this cocktail was allegedly crafted by one of the first female bartenders at the Savoy in London, and ended up being a cold season favorite across the pond and here as well, though you don’t see it stirred as often as it probably should.

The Fernet Branca liqueur adds a totally unique herbaceous twist here, and speaking of twists, you need to make sure you really do give the orange peel a hard twist to express all the flavorful oils you can.

Gin aficionados will like this one…

An appreciative tip of the hat to Kimberly, and have to say we still think Driggs rocks.

1 and 1/2 ounces good dry Gin
1 and 1/2 ounces Sweet vermouth
2 healthy dashes Fernet Branca

Garnish: Orange twist

Pour all three main ingredients into a mixing glass, add ice and stir well.

Strain into a chilled (cocktail) glass and garnish with the twist.

Enjoy.
