Welcome to the Family

in Damn!

There are seminal milestones along the road parents and children walk together that become woven forever in the tapestry of family history.

Your child’s first smile, steps and spoken word; their first camping trip, first fish (spinning gear is great for kids), their first foray with a fly rod.

Learning to drive, first dances, leaning to row, first dates, first solo cross-country drives and first jobs.

JakeKcw350I’m not sure any top what SWMBO and I have enjoyed the past few days – the joy of meeting our future daughter-in-law for the first time.

Yep, Jake has just announced his engagement to Kaitlyn, a lovely Montana woman from Livingston. K is an OR nurse, marathoner, lover of Montana mountains who can hike just about anybody’s legs off, skier and of course a fly fisher (she and Jake exchanged fly gear for Christmas).

She’s a woman of character, bright, cute as a button, quick to laugh and has a razor-sharp wit (I’m still laughing about the running commentary from our drive on Sunday…)

Completing one of those almost too good to be true stories, K comes from a lovely family we’ve already had a lot of fun with and are looking forward to much more.

It’ll be a genuine Montana June wedding in Livingston. We can’t wait and are as pleased as any set of parents could possibly be at the news.

Welcome to the family K.

Hot damn.
