November, it would seem, has arrived. Bozeman is due it’s first real taste of snow this coming week; the skiers are eagerly prepping their gear, and the anglers are stocking up on under-wader layers.

NFBB1Nov_JMM_V_polingskiffNow, personally, I don’t mind it. I’m still reveling in the fact that I’m back home, and thoroughly enjoying seeing Carhartts and duct-taped ski jackets instead of mink coats and fedoras.

Winter’s a good time to hunker down and learn the new gigs—and with both AFFTA and Yellow Dog there’s a lot to come up to speed on. Looking forward to some productive, snowy writing days.

I was digging for snow boots in the closet the other day and my snorkeling gear caught my eye, seemingly taunting, ‘Grab the underwater housing and let’s go on an adventure.’

NFBB1Nov_JMM_V_SandyboatWell, tropical adventure might have to wait for a bit, but as winter nudges its way in at least we can dream about warmer climes.

These shots were from an assignment in Belize last November for Orvis. The project was largely a fashion and conservation shoot (sometimes —rarely—the two happen to coincide) but I managed to hang around for a day of fishing with the stellar crew at El Pescador Lodge.

So in the spirit of island time, here’s a little mental break for the weekend.
