Time to Kiss the Bahamas Goodbye?

lpskpi2301IF the current trend continues in the Bahama’s Fly Fishing Saga, as reported by this morning by Bjorn , we’re ready, along with an impressive proportion of folks we’ve chatted with in the industry, to kiss the Bahamas goodbye.

A friend in West Yellowstone summed it up pretty reasonably – he said there are simply too many beautiful places in the world to chase bonefish that welcome anglers with open arms instead of with greedy hands reaching for bigger bites of pay to play cash.

By all means read Bjorn’s update, but don’t miss the comment from Cindy Pinder (the first in the comment section) providing another (wading) boots on the ground view of what’s happening.

Her admonition that the discussion has taken an ominous turn yet hasn’t been written into law is important to note, though things certainly appear to be steamrolling the wrong way.

Still sounds like the Bahamian Fisheries leadership is trying to put lipstick on that pig.
