Angling Trade broke the news yesterday that Far Bank Enterprises (Sage, RIO, Redington) will begin direct sales of Sage and RIO products in 2016.

It’s just a guess on our part, but we’re betting that many a small, independent fly shop, who has worked for years with Sage in particular making their gear the backbone of the shop’s cadre of rods, will have a pretty damned sober response to the news as spoofed above.

AT has promised an in-depth analysis of the reactions, which no doubt will be all over the board and many will likely be entertaining reading if you’re interested at all in the business end of fly fishing.

And no doubt Far Bank will be mounting a campaign to sell the story that it’s good for everybody, trotting out the (yawn) Orvis, Simms, Patagonia and even Redington examples once again.

Should be an interesting story to watch for those in or interested in the industry.

Cheers.
