Howdy Big Sky Country.

CWVC19A_V3Currently wading through meetings and photo shoot scouting, and enjoying all Bozeman has to offer. It’s a bit surreal to be back after several years away; town has changed, but the mountains and the sage and the rivers are still the same. Spent much of today trying to scout out a handy, photogenic campsite that is open—surprisingly challenging this early in the season. Jake joined in the hunt and we stopped to wet a line on an old favorite spot on the Gallatin. Fishing together is something we haven’t done in a long time, and there’s something special about slinging rods with family.

I got a kind invite to head up to the Missouri this past Thursday with Bozeman guides Ken Stock and Jacob Hinshaw. The answer—of course—was yes, and it was a fun blitz day. I was up about 5AM and didn’t make it back to bed until well after 1AM. We took a leisurely float from Prewitt to Pelican Point, and I was once again reminded what a special fishery the Missouri is. Lots of hours logged on that water, and I still feel like I don’t know but a tiny fraction of it. Here’s to more days in the future.

CWVC19A_V1Headed to the Big Hole Monday with Ken and Jake. I’ve never fished or floated that water, and am excited to have another marathon day on the water. Life’s too short not take every opportunity.

And, on that note, in the past few days I’ve been asked to participate in a pretty special project coming up on pretty short notice. Can’t share details now, but suffice to say looks like flip flops, flats booties and a passport will be needed.

This week I’ll be working in Bozeman for the next few days, then heading over to Missoula Wednesday for the Orvis Guide Rendezvous. Looking forward to catching up with some of you there… if you’re around, stop and say hi! I’ll be the one stalking around with a camera. Then back to Bozeman on Sunday for an Orvis photo shoot, which will take up the next week.

Cheers, all. Hope everyone is logging some hours outside this weekend!
