From the response we’ve been getting over the past couple of months, it appears folks are enjoying seeing some fairly simple beverage and cocktail recipes in our Thirsty Thursday posts.

Here’s an interesting one that came in over the transom from Abe in New Mexico earlier this week –

While I have to admit I am a bit jealous of your brewery scene in Montana and the bourbons you have access to in the South, we have a wonderful craft cider brewery movement picking up steam in New Mexico (we’re particularly fond of Santa Fe Cider Works and Santa Sidra).

Just as with the gazillion wine-based sangria recipes floating around out there, we’re seeing more and more innovative cider sangrias offered around our locale. We’ll be serving this basic but oh so good Hard Apple Cider Sangria at our Thanksgiving celebration next week….

Sharing this one was a slam dunk today, having become fairly recent (past couple of years) fans of the craft cider movement.

Cheers my friends, this looks like one to try soon.

2 cups cored, quartered, thinly sliced (unpeeled) red, green and yellow apples
2 navel oranges, quartered and thinly sliced
2 cups all natural apple juice, chilled
1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
1/2 cup decent brandy
2 22-ounce bottles hard apple cider, chilled

Prep. Combine in a large pitcher – the apple slices, orange slices, apple and lemon juices and the brandy. Stir well and chill.

Serve. When ready to serve, pour in the hard cider, stir, and serve over ice.

Enjoy.
