VC12Oct_V1Somewhat predictably, it’s time for some leaf pictures. Manchester is being overrun by folks with out-of-state license plates who apparently love stopping in in the middle of the road to snap pictures with their phone and complain loudly in the coffee shop about the lack of wine (and who goes to a coffee shop for wine, anyway?).

That being said, I’ve made a habit of avoiding town as much as possible (a wee bit difficult as a live across from said coffee shop and, therefore, right in the midst of it all), and fishing my way home from work each day. And at lunch. And hiking on trails hidden away from the crowds. And just generally avoiding people.

At the risk of sounding horribly antisocial, it seems like a reasonable plan.

VC12Oct_V_2Legitimate cool fall weather is here, and the leaves are starting to depart branches and make their way to the forest floor. It makes hiking rather fun—my inner child wants to kick them all up in the air and watch them flutter down as I walk—yet is also a somehow ominous sign of the winter to come. I’m stubborn and refuse to turn on the heaters in my apartment until forced, so I am writing this while bundled in an old, duct-taped down jacket.

That said, the change of weather has brought no slowing of work, and life is as crazy as ever. I set a personal record last week, putting 1,000 words to paper (digital paper, as it were) before leaving for work at 0730.

Coffee, my friends, is a very lovely thing.
