It’s been a run-around-in-circles week in the Green Mountain (really, Green Hill) country, a fact which sadly has negated any attempt at fishing. As I wrote this on Friday, weekend plans consist of undertaking the ever-growing mass of “to do” paperwork that seems to be slowly encroaching on my folding table desk.

Said folding table is beginning to sag a wee bit in the middle.

I did manage to escape the office Monday and Tuesday for the Orvis Wingshooting School here in Manchester. It was my kind of school… about 15 minutes in a building, and the rest was spent out at the range with shotgun in hand, listening to instructors who simultaneously made me laugh and improve my shooting. Eager to get out and log some hunting hours now.

In other news, a few fun events are rearing their heads for September (read: there will be interesting images coming your way soon). Heading down to the Hudson River Valley for the Orvis Sandanona Game Fair the latter half of the month… anticipating a wide selection of plaid in all its various forms, happy people with shotguns, and oh-so-odd-to-watch New York City folk out experiencing the “countryside”. The next weekend, it’s off to explore the Adirondacks and the Au Sable River. A herd of folks from Orvis creative services are loading up for a weekend of fishing. As par for the course, I’m the only girl in the group, but looking forward to getting some time on the water with my co-workers. Bringing the camera along for sure—expecting the foliage to be rather promising.

Somewhere along the way I’ll be attending a bachelorette party and cruising along in the mighty town of Saratoga in a dress and heels.

No doubt I’ll be ready to get back to jeans and the camera bag.

So, while there will be fun images coming your way from the Northeast (it’s still weird to type that… the Montanan in me rebels a bit). this week has been a little slow. In place of a fishy Vermont post, here are four scenics from (roughly) four corners of the country. Sometimes it’s nice to just sit back and appreciate what’s around us at any given time.

Get out and do some exploring of your own this weekend!
