Been hearing very interesting things about a local fish – the Redeye Bass.

For the pendantics out there, the Redeye bass (Micropterus coosae) was originally thought to be native to the Coosa river system of Alabama and Georgia. In 2013 those in the know split them into five species, each denizens of the Coosa, Cahaba, Chattahoochee, Tallapoosa and Black Warrior River systems.

Been chatting with the Cahaba River Society about some interesting things they’re doing with teaching kids about the river world; this fine specimen was caught and released by one of their board members, Stuart Roberts. We’re also chasing an interview with the designer of that nifty little popper – the Booglebug – Pierce Yates.

More to come.
