A non-fly-fishing relative declared this morning that we needed to stop ‘jousting at windmills’ in Alaska and Montana and ‘get on with the real business of life’.
The comment was fired off absolutely out of the blue and totally unrelated to the context of our discussion; while I do appreciate the off-handed comparison to the noble Don Quixote, I have to admit I was momentarily taken aback.
Recovering my wits I reminded my unhappy kinsman that half of the world’s sockeye salmon production occurs in Bristol Bay waters and the EPA has extended the comment period on Bristol until June 30.
We might just be jousting at windmills but joust on we will.
