A Few Notable Odds and Ends…..

Long overdue, Montana Trout Unlimited has updated their web site in grand fashion. Clean design, nice navigation and some decent imagery – well done.

The (in)famous Montana legislature is now in session; will this year’s session bring another scuffle over some of the most accessible water in the lower 48? Time will tell, but our money is on ‘yes, there will be battles to come’. Follow Montana TU’s 2013 legislative updates here.

I’ve been chatting a bit with Michael Gibson in the office over there lately and expect that Mark Aagenes will be in Helena working to educate, inform and persuade during this session as well.

Friend of Chi Wulff Leigh Smith, one of the authors / creators of the blog FinFollower.com, and I had been emailing back forth several weeks regarding some questions he’d asked about fishing southwest Montana and Yellowstone.

At one point I apologized for sending a late reply back to Leigh several weeks ago. He said don’t worry about it, he lived in Sandy Hook (and has a seven year old) and things had been a bit distracting of late after the event.

A couple of days ago Leigh posted a review of the movie Where the Yellowstone Goes; to make a long story short Director Hunter Weeks sent the following to Leigh…

”I thought a lot about the film after hearing about the shootings. The story is one that captures the essence of life and unfortunately death is a key part of our lives….sometimes way to soon and in an unfair way. After spending that time on the Yellowstone, I hoped that people would see life and death in different way through the stories people told about losing loved ones and through the natural cycle of life. It’s not an easy thing to deal with or even think about, but it’s something we all eventually face and so does every living aspect of a river system.  . . .  If you are interested, I’d love to give 100% of the proceeds from any DVD or store sales you direct our way to the victims of the Sandy Hook shootings.”

Leigh and Hunter are giving away a copy of the DVD and if you’ve not purchased the film yet, use the link on Leigh’s website (following the link above) and Hunter will donate all proceeds to the Sandy Hook community. Good through the 31st.

Kudos to all involved.
