Why I Fish: I Like The Way the River Smells

I like the way the river smells.

Unless you’ve been out on the water on a warm, late-summer afternoon, after enduring a long, cold and sterile winter, you probably don’t have an inkling of what I’m talking about.

If you close your eyes, take a long, deep breath, and drink it all in – you can smell the river and the riparian neighborhood.

Rich and earthy with a mineral quality that you can almost taste; admittedly I’m thinking of the Firehole just now.

Unspoiled, pristine, unused and pure.

I like the way the river smells.

SOL is just anxious to get his new boat on the water (again)……and smell the river…..sweet ride, by the way.

Candy bouquet. Snaps me into summer, despite the snow drifts out back. Will this ever melt?

I remember those days of wondering if it would ever melt. And yes, it does.

Awesome! I have told my wife for years that I simply LOVE the way rivers smell… Glad I’m not the only one who’s nuts.

Damn, hate to tell you, but agreeing with us on anything in no way proves you’re not nuts.
