That’s some sweet swingin video and a great rod review. It sure seems like the TCX 5119-4 would be better for trout fishing though. With the stiffness of those rods, they have plenty enough backbone to handle wind, and the smaller rod would give you a much better fight. Everyone has an opinion though.
You’ve got a good point Gary. The 5-weight would give you a better fight, and the TCX is certainly stiff enough to handle the wind. But, personally, for throwing big streamers and nymph rigs (especially on big water like the Missouri) I prefer a 6-weight. There is just that little extra “oomph” when you need it to punch through the wind or reach that far bank, and its easier on the bigger fish to get them in and released quickly. But, like you said, everyone has their own opinion.
