Snaggin’ Cottonmouths on the Guadalupe….

Spent a little time with Jake and a friend of his (ours) – Dan the Man – at Guadalupe State Park yesterday.

One of the perks of the business we’re in is that the work flow allows the schedule to be reshuffled a bit on some days and more important things like fly fishing to be prioritized.

There was a property that needed further exploration on the way to the river and a meeting later in the afternoon (sorta) in the neighborhood.

It was a pretty typical day for May in Texico this year – blistering sun, humid and hot. Schedules working as they did put us on the river from about 1100 to 230 and it was already 98 by my vehicle when we headed back to the parking lot.

Lots of little bass and brightly colored panfish kept things interesting as did one pissed off cottonmouth that Dan snagged off a log sitting just off the far bank.

And we decided it was the better part of valor to not retrieve the snake attached fly.
