We’ve got bonefish on the brain today.
The Bonefish and Tarpon Trust has recently announced the dates for their 4th Annual Bonefish and Tarpon Symposium – November 11-12, 2011 in Dania Beach, Florida.
From where we sit the good folks at BTT have set up their annual conference to include the best of several worlds – they’ll have presentations from cutting edge researchers, updates on conservation efforts sponsored by the BTT (and others) and have rounded up a truly impressive cadre of legends for their banquet event on Saturday.
Space is limited, so you really will be able to rub shoulders with some of the big guns – Andy Mill, Bob Popovics, Joan Wulff, Bill Curtis, Lefty Kreh, Flip Pallot, Chico Fernandez, Sandy Moret, Mark Sosin, Ralph Delph, Steve Huff and George Hommell just to name a few.
You’ll no doubt soak up some powerful bonefish and tarpon chi just sitting in the same room with all these fly fishing giants for a few hours. Bring a camera and some cash for the auction.
Looks like a steal at $125 for both days, a social Friday evening and the banquet on Saturday.
See the BTT’s 2011 Symposium page here for more details – the call for papers, schedule, registration, auction details and more.
[An unsolicited plug for the Bonefish and Tarpon Trust. In a day and age when group after group seeks to pick your pocket to support their pet cause or line their own pockets, the gang at BTT by all appearances continues to do things right. Solid conservation efforts backed by good science and up to date research have yielded considerable fruit in Florida this year in the form of much needed regulation updates. They continue to do one hell of a job educating folks as well, and do so on what appears to be an impressively lean administrative budget. Well done, BTT.]
Count us in for the symposium.
