A Quick Not-So-Detailed Catch Up Post…..

The last week with the flu has left me feeling a little bit like the mini-van in the vid below….

The new week has dawned for the most part bright and sunny here in Bozeman this morning and we’ve been blessed with a call from a new fly fishing journalism friend who happens to be passing through the neighborhood.  (He’s playing hooky today so I’m not sure I should mention who it is just yet….)

That full day in the office has been thrown to the dogs for a lunch meeting and what very well might turn into a quick run to the Madison or lower Gallatin.

We’ll get back in the saddle in terms of more regular posting in the next several days….

Pics and a quick story to follow later…..

Jake,
My wife and I have fished SW Montana a few times in past several years and look forward to coming back. We have an excuse to do so this spring. We have a wedding in Minneapolis on May 22 and we find we don’t want to get on an airplane without our fishing gear. Since Northwest flies through Minneapolis to Bozeman, we thought this a perfect, May in Montana.
We need some advice knowing runoff will be occurring around that time. What would suggest? Should we plan to fish the week before or after the wedding? And if we get unlucky and find ourselves in the middle of runoff, what would we do? Are there places within reasonable day drive of Bozeman to get away from blown out rivers? Or would it be safer to plan to go north of Bozeman to have a better chance of finding the mother’s day hatch and avoid runoff?
Any advice you have will be appreciated.

Any response you have will be appreciated. Thanks.
