The Bitterroot continues to give it up for the dry fly aficionado; the weather has been ideal save for some wind on the day before these storms roll through.  I wasn’t on the water yesterday but heard it got tough (wind) in the afternoon.
The game is still BWO and mahoganies.  Bring a nice assortment of [...]

Few More Paradise Valley Pics….

by Mark on October 28, 2009

in Pic of the Day

Popped over the past to the Paradise Valley a couple of days ago to discuss a nifty new project concept (hot damn!) with a colleague; it happened to be Monday afternoon in the several hours before our latest little batch of weather moved in.
The beauty of the surrounding countryside is truly a two-edge sword; it’s [...]

Counting today there are just four more days left in the Park season.

This morning’s Island Park webcam screenshot suggests your angling garb today will include your union suit.
Blue wings and midges for the hardy – bugs are in the massive 22-24 range.  I’d be throwing a soft hackle emerger down there this afternoon but the more polished may prefer a cripple.
Winter will be hanging around the neighborhood [...]

It simple seems impossible that this will be our last report on the Firehole for this season.   I’ll be damned if it seems like just yesterday we had driven into the Park back in April to say hello to an old friend.
There is a lot of water around the region that is fishing very, [...]

There’s been some damned nice fishing to be done on the Clark Fork lately; I was lucky enough to do a bit with my daughter this weekend.
We floated the upper river (above Missoula) on Sunday and did very well on BWO and mahoganies in the afternoon; the wind was manageable and fish were really keying [...]
