The stories we’re hearing are enough to send chills down your spine.
Due to the ‘publicity’ the lower river has received this summer a lot of the trophy hunters are down below town chasing monsters, and the upper river has been surprisingly unpressured (for this time of year, anyway). Let ‘em chase the hogs down below, the upper river has been fishing better this week that it has probably all season.
Hoppers have been the go to bug, followed by Caddis if there are some clouds around, or even in the sun. The Park’s guys are boasting about their Clacka Caddis in tandem with a big hopper up front. Standard dropper rigs and even nymphing big stuff deep has been good as well.
The Yellowstone is finally coming into its own after a high flow summer – could be one of the best fall fishing times we’ve seen in years.
