Flows on the Gardner continue to drop and the water is clearing up. It is still pretty damn cold up high, but the lower river is fishing pretty well.

Some dry flies, caddis, are finally starting to show up on the river. Look for them in the afternoons and evenings. A caddis nymph swung down and across can be absolutely deadly.
Stonefly nymphs fished tight to the banks are still producing fish. Seems like the fish are starting to move out from the banks a bit and disperse through the river, so hit the nice looking pools and runs as well as the banks.
The Gardner is one of my favorite rivers to fish this time of year, spend an afternoon on it to find out why.
