The Gallatin is shaping up. Water is dropping, and the fish are really coming to life. Clarity is up over a foot now in most places. Mark and I drove out to Williams Bridge yesterday to get a look at her, but forgot the damn camera.
Salmonflies and golden stones are coming off in the canyon. I heard from a buddy of mine that the fish were hitting Salmonfly dries around Greek Creek. The main body of the hatch should be somewhere between Greek Creek and Moose Creek Flats Campground right now. Fish nymphs anywhere in the canyon and you’ll be catching fish.
The lower river is starting to clear up as well, although most folks seem to be fishing in the canyon. Can’t say that I blame them. Taylor Fork on the upper river is still pretty murky, but the water above there is looking great! She’s mighty cold up high, but the fish should be starting to feed more aggressively with these warm days.
