Yesterday, Mark and I had to run over to Missoula and got a chance to eyeball some of the waters in the area.  The Gallatin, at least the lower reaches of it, is blown out again.  The water is high and dirty.

Last Saturday all of us drove down to the Park, driving along the Gallatin the whole way.  The river below Taylor Fork looks like chocolate milk.  Above Taylor Fork it did not look too bad.  Actually some a guy with what looked like a pretty good fish on just below the Park boundary.

If you feel that you must fish the Gallatin right now, be ready to head high.  Flows are coming back down, and we might have a break in the weather, but you are still going to be waiting a while to fish the main body of the river.
