Talked this week to a crowd averse, northeast corner fanatic who fished the first meadow on opening day.
He report was less than ebullient about his experience last Saturday. In fact he talked much more about the critters he encountered (grizzly, bison, elk, deer, coyotes, wolves, otters, badgers, and sheep near Tower) than he did the fishing. He even talked about what he ate for lunch (2 slim Jims, a tin of sardines, and 2 Bud lights) – which I’ve never heard him do.
He admitted to working hard to dredge streamers in the first meadow seams for a “couple of little ones”.
There’s no flow gage on Slough, but it’s a safe bet given the snowpack in the region and the flows on the Lamar and Soda this morning that there’s a fair amount of water rolling through.
Nice hike, but better fishing elsewhere.
