This is our first update on the Park section of the Madison for the year, what with opening day for the Park tomorrow.
From our time in the Park yesterday it is pretty safe to say that the Madison will for all intents and purposes be unfishable on the opener; she’s high, rolling, with visibility in the 3 to 6 inch range.
USGS staff were working on the flow gage yesterday and indeed data will not be available until this mid-day today. With both the Gibbon and Firehole rolling along the Madison likely won’t be fishing until the second week of June according to local lore.
Bet you a cold one someone will be fishing it anyway tomorrow…..
